This is an amazing, early 1700's French Marriage Box for Jewelry and other Treasured Posessions.. Given to the Bride by the loving Groom, upon their marriage. An ancient tradition in Northern France for centuries past..

Normally, marriage boxes and caskets take the standard form of a rectangular shaped box, with a fold-up lid and paint decoration on the outside.. But this one is very different.. and very Special..!!

It has been lovingly, totally hand-carved in solid walnut wood. In 3 separate sections, that interlock and slide together to form a casket with two deep storage drawers.. as can be seen in the pictures..

Each of the three sections has been superbly carved from solid blocks of walnut. The carving of the Medieval Timber Framed House is outstanding.. With the doorway's, windows and panelled sections beautifully detailed..

In outstanding antique condition, with no damage or woodworm, this superb original casket measures 22cm wide by 22cm high and 14.5cm from back to front..
