Rare Antique Chinese Fingernail Guard

Made in the early 1800's during the Qing Dynasty, this remarkable, engraved Fingernail Guard is truly exquisite..

Beautifully decorated with intricate Lotus flowers and an endless knot (symbolic of a long, prosperous life) this an extremely rare piece...

Fingernail guards originate from the Ming dynasty but became popular in the Qing dynasty...

They were wore by high ranking Chinese women, a sign of power and beauty, long fingernails were a mark of high status indicating that one did not have to engage in manual labor...

This rare antique survivor is made from solid silver, a material that was almost more valuable than gold at the time it was created..

Finely crafted this magical piece may have belonged to a very high-ranking court official, or even the Empress herself...

In excellent antique condition, as shown in the photos, this marvelous treasure measures 8cm by 1.7cm wide...

An exquisite Chinese treasure!
